DRT Metal Packaging Solutions (MPS) is hiring for a brand-new position. We are looking to add an engineer to our team who has experience as a Manufacturing Engineer/Process Engineer but has had a lot of exposure to Quality. We are looking to become ISO 9001 certified, and this person would help lead that path. We anticipate this position starting heavy on the quality side with a roughly 80-20 split. After certification is obtained this will move into a truer Manufacturing Engineer role. SUMMARY:

Responsible for developing and implementing in-process inspection information for the production floor

Responsible for developing and improving manufacturing process routings

Responsible for developing and implementing rework processes for parts with quality issues.

Responsible for maintaining the quality management system for the facility.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

· Work with floor operations leaders and team members to create shop floor bubble prints and inspection sheets for each operation for first time part production or parts deemed complicated to manufacture.

· Develop and improve existing and new part/job shop manufacturing routings, including estimating set-up and run time for the machining, fabricating, finishing and other manufacturing processes

· Assist in the implementation and training of inspection sheets with the machinists as needed.

· Perform & Assist in measurement method training for floor machinists

· Audit inspection sheets for compliance of completion and coach machinists on audit findings for improvements.

· Work with design engineering on possible print changes for parts with approved deviations for cost reductions for manufacturing.

· Work with floor operations and design engineering to follow up and help implement corrective actions from the weekly quality meetings.

· Work on NCMRs involving supplier or outside processing issues for root cause and corrective actions.

· Work with Sales and floor operations to process customer complaints and their corrective actions in CATSWeb.

· Work with floor operations and design engineering on the Material Review Board for the proper disposition of non-conforming production parts.

· Assist in the control of documentation in CATSWeb.

· Assist in weekly quality metrics reporting using Excel and PowerPoint.

· Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and independently. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· 1-3 years minimum experience in low volume/high mix machining preferred

· Experience/working knowledge of quality certification requirements/programs

· 1-3 years minimum experience utilizing problem solving skills, identifying waste, measurement techniques preferred

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Excel and PowerPoint.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing drawings and technical specifications.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Uses addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions. Uses simple formulae, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules. Checks reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
