Role and Responsibilities:
Keeps equipment available for use by performing diagnoses and repairs of most vehicle components. Complete preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
Diagnose cause of malfunctions and performs repair
Uses all tools of trade, including precision instruments, shop machines.
Able to read and understand technical publications/software, including service manuals and service bulletins and can use information contained in them to do their own work and to assist others concerning the content.
Must be able to determine usability of all component parts and must be able to list and order all parts needed for repair.
Must be able to complete work accurately and timely.
Must be able to write a good description of all work performed on each individual repair.
Ability to perform all aspects of the job safely and in accordance with OSHA, DOT & GMCO CORP rules and regulations.
Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including safety Management.
Understands the importance of attendance, punctuality, and how they affect customer service.
Attention to Detail
Education & Experience:
Must possess own basic hand tools
Minimum 3 years as a mechanic, 5 years preferred.
CDL Class A or Class B preferred.
Must possess and use good interpersonal skills and can interact well with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a positive and constructive manner.
Must be able to read and write and understand computer generated reports, office reports, invoices, etc.
Must be able to operate various computer diagnostic devices, PC’s, and laptops.
Full understanding of all DOT, Federal & State laws regarding maintenance/repairs.
Must be self-motivated
